Leif helped rewrite the instructional leadership principals for the new age US Navy SEAL leaders. He was Charlie Platoon Commander of SEAL Team 3 which included Chris Kyle the American Sniper and his involvement in the infamous battle of Ramadi. 
Under his leadership, Task Unit Bruiser became the most highly decorated Special Operations Unit of the entire war in Iraq and helped bring stability to Ramadi.
